II

In eastern Ukraine, I worked with Hopeful NGO, making and serving pizzas to internally displaced families, and painting faces for the children, and occasionally an adult too. Alongside this, I built contacts across the civilian humanitarian sphere in KHARKIV, DNIPRo, Slov'yansk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv.

Krynky / Mission Ukraine UK vehicle delivery:

My past role at Mission Ukraine was as part of the Mission Ukraine UK team behind the design, fundraising, and delivery of 4x4 vehicles converted into medevacs for frontline medical units, and, during the Krynky operation, of evacuation boats passed to the brigades using them to move casualties across the Dnipro river. My role centred on liaison and research, supporting the projects from planning through to delivery. The delivery itself mattered most: meeting the men whose lives these vehicles and boats would go on to save. On Hoverla, I met one of them, a man whose life had been saved by a boat like ours.

Medical preparation:

Before beginning medevac work, I completed a series of medical courses, training that shaped how I operated once I was evacuating casualties on the frontline.

Medevac driving:

From August 2024 until October 2025, I worked as a contracted medevac driver, embedded with frontline military brigades through an independent NGO. Operating under a military chain of command, I completed three full rotations evacuating casualties as part of a medical team supporting frontline military medical units, and observed surgical procedures at stabilisation points.
